Success Story
Community Events
At Prospect, we not only work, live and play in our communities we invest in creating better for everyone. All of our employees are active members in supporting community initiatives that promote and enhance well-being, particularly around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility. Our engagement ranges having team members sit on various boards and committees to providing visual and social media supports as well as organizing of events. Our internal bulletin board is filled every month with opportunities for staff to get involved.
Some of the initiatives where our team members helped break-down barriers and raise awareness are:
National Indigenous History Month
Mental Health Week
PRIDE Month
Disability Employment Awareness Month (DEAM)
In addition, we submitted our recommendations for Alberta’s Budget 2023 to ensure the Government of Alberta continued to focus on creating equitable access to supports for job seekers facing barriers in Alberta’s fast-paced and growing economy.
Job Fairs
Job fairs are more than just an opportunity for job seekers to meet with employers. Whether in one of Alberta’s major cities or smaller communities, Job Fairs are community events that promote engagement and break down barriers through allowing for face-to-face contact.
We host job fairs for specific employers as well as fairs that focus on specific demographics, or the general population. Job seekers can meet the hiring teams of local as well as employers from outside the area and, employers have a chance to connect with one another, learn about best practices in human resources as well as share success stories and challenges.
In F2022/23, we hosted 8 Job Fairs that continued to attract employers and job seekers. Here's a sampling of some of the locations, and focus of some of the fairs:
Chestermere Job Fair
In-person Job Fair with Amazon
Cochrane Job Fair
Calgary Job Fair Celebrating Diversity Spring 2023
Airdrie Job Fair 2022
In addition to Job Fairs, we hosted 95 Employer and Career Spotlights to provide job seekers an opportunity to learn more about individual organizations, their current staffing needs, the organizational culture and what they are looking for in the people they hire. As with job fairs, Employer Spotlights are free for employers and represent the broad range of Alberta’s workplaces.
Growing Our Impact
As we continue to expand our province-wide footprint and increase the number of programs available to support all Albertans, we also experienced growing pains within our offices. Fortunately, with the help of a grant from the GoA and under the guidance of our Facilities Team, we were able to significantly expand and upgrade our offices in Edmonton and Strathmore last year which saw an increase from 2,900 to 5,000 sq ft in Edmonton and an increase from 931 to 2,235 sq ft in Strathmore.
The Grand Opening of the Edmonton offices was celebrated as the team also launched the new Forces@WORK First Responders program with the support of the Minister of Seniors, Community and Social Services speaking to an audience of about 50 people.
Edmonton has experienced exceptional growth over the past year, with the team growing from 21 employees at the beginning of April to 33 employees by end of fiscal.
To promote both community engagement and team spirit, management focused on team-building events that engaged staff in unique and creative ways, using our own internal resources. From collaborative art-making to Annual Holiday Season Gift Exchange to volunteering at the Veterans Association Food Bank, the team connected and grew stronger.
