Message from the Board Chair & CEO
Dear Friends and Supporters,
As we reflect on the past year at Prospect, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude. The fiscal year 2023/2024 has been a remarkable period of growth and adaptation, underpinned by our unwavering commitment to diversity in all its forms.
This year, we expanded our reach and deepened our impact, connecting with 13,042 individuals seeking employment, a 35% increase from the previous year. This expansion is a testament to our role as a pillar of support in Alberta’s employment landscape, consistently meeting the diverse needs of the communities we serve.
Moreover, our engagement with 1,658 employers has further solidified our role in bridging the gap between job seekers and the marketplace, changing lives one job at a time with 1,170 individuals finding employment through Prospect this year.
This year also saw the launch of innovative programs like the Youth Apprenticeship Connection Program and the Enhanced Employment Supports for Persons with Disabilities Program. These initiatives not only broaden our service offerings but also reinforce our commitment to providing tailored, effective solutions for vulnerable and equity-deserving groups.
Central to these efforts is our goal to be an employer of choice, reflective of the diverse communities we serve through our programs. Our inclusive hiring practices and strong organizational culture have led to over 59% of our team identifying with at least one equity-deserving group.
Navigating a cooler job market has indeed been challenging, but our adaptable and inclusive company culture has been key to maintaining our course. This resilience is further buoyed by the continued support of our longstanding donors, sponsors, funders, volunteers, foundation partners, and corporate partners.
As we advance our infrastructure, processes, and procedures, and continue to add the right competencies and capabilities, we are set to enter FY 2024/2025 on very strong footing. Our mission, to reduce barriers and deliver sustainable solutions so that everyone, regardless of circumstance, can reach their employment potential, remains as vital as ever.
Thank you for your continued support and belief in our mission. Together, we are creating a stronger, more equitable workforce for all Albertans.
Sincerely,
Gary Agnew
